New Opel Astra GTC released in detail [video]

Opel has the new generation Zafira Tourer flexibility master and the Astra GTC three-door sports compact which would have its world premiere at the 64th International Motor Show in Frankfurt am Main, September 15 – 25, 2011.

The GTC is the ultimate Astra in design and driving dynamics. with invigorating driving performance while remaining affordable, roomy and flexible. engine options will become available including a range-topping OPC performance edition with the 1.4 liter turbo which comes with outputs of 88 kW/120 PS (119 bhp) and 103 kW/140 PS (138 bhp), both with 200 Nm (147 lb-ft) of torque. with A 2.0 liter diesel unit is also available with the CDTI engine delivering 121 kW/165 PS (163 bhp) and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) of torque.

“We wanted the Astra GTC to be the ultimate expression of Opel’s design language ‘sculptural artistry meets German precision’ and to embody our passion for the automobile,” says Mark Adams, Vice President, Opel/Vauxhall Design. “However, we did not want emotion to overshadow functionality: the Astra GTC is a clever and affordable dream car.”

More powertrains will be offered around the world premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The sportiest versions including the future high-performance OPC will follow in 2012.
